Cantieri e artisti a Forlì

L’iniziativa nasce in stretta relazione con l’esposizione “Novecento. Arte e vita in Italia fra le due guerre”, in particolare con la sezione dedicata ai cantieri monumentali che documenta il dialogo e la fusione di urbanistica, architettura, scultura, pittura, arti decorative e arredo nel recupero del concetto di “unità delle arti” proprio della tradizione rinascimentale italiana.
Il nuovo fervore urbanistico e architettonico è, infatti, seguito da un ritorno alla scultura monumentale e alla pittura murale concepiti non più come afferenti e secondari rispetto all’architettura, ma come parti di un unico progetto fin dal suo concepimento.
L’evento, articolato in quattro appuntamenti, due conversazioni e due visite guidate, intende esemplificare questa tendenza analizzando alcuni cantieri monumentali forlivesi degli anni Venti e Trenta del Novecento, soffermandosi su alcuni rilevanti pittori e scultori che vi hanno preso parte, ingiustamente ancora nell’ombra.

TWENTIETH CENTURY - ART AND LIFE IN ITALY BETWEEN THE TWO WARS

From 2nd February to 16th June 2013

After holding the exhibition Wildt. Soul and shapes between Michelangelo and Klimt, the Foundation Cassa dei Risparmi di Forlì, in collaboration with the City of Forlí, plans to focus on another part of art of the 20th century.
This exhibition covers almost a thirty-year period: from the end of the first decade of the 20th century until the Second World War, especially focussing on the ‘20s and 30’s. The “context” enables to highlight all trends, movements, vanguards, leading characters and main themes of that time, not in chronological order, but rather according to the prevailing polarities. The outcome is a telling slice of life and costumes of those years, which is also expressed by the new arts: cinema, fashion, graphic and decorative arts. Moreover, a central role is played by the new light cast on the debate about ethics and art, especially carried out by the media.

Special attention is paid to painting and sculpture between the two wars, with the due national and international comparisons (from Picasso onwards): “the new Italian Renaissance”, as Margherita Sarfatti called the experience of the “Novecento” group by then. However, nowadays this term may also define the whole set of those different trends that, even if different, lived side by side, overlapped eachother and followed one another in the shade of the regime, marking a deep renewal of arts in Italy. At that time, many movements coexisted: from the metaphysical painting of “Plastic values”, to the so-called “Return to order”, to the rational Realism, to the commemorative art of the regime. The main artists were Boccioni, Balla, Sironi, Soffici, Prampolini, Carrà, Severini, Savinio, De Chirico, De Pisis, Morandi, Casorati, Funi, Campigli, Donghi, Martini, Rosai, up to Pirandello, Maccari, Mafai, Manzù and Guttuso.
On one hand, the exhibition aims to commemorate the main works in which artists celebrated the ideology and the myths presented by Fascism, in the forms of public architecture, wall painting and monumental sculpture. Specific parts are reserved for the First (1926) and the Second (1929) Exhibition of the Italian 20th century, both organized by Margherita Sarfatti; the big Exhibition of the Fascist Revolution held in Rome during 1932-1933 on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the march on Rome; the 5th Triennial Exhibition in Milan, where wall painting established itself as a national-popular form of art, able to revive a famous tradition; the E42 Exhibition in Rome, which brought a big change to the city planning and the whole image of the Italian capital. Wall painting and the monumental sculpture are also found in public building sites, such as courthouses, post offices and universities. Taking the most demanding urban projects into account, such as Vittoria Square in Brescia or the new city of Littoria, helps to shed light into what has been carried out in Forlì.
The exhibition also deals with the cultural and formal connection with the rationalist perspective and the debate on classicism in architecture and city planning. The rational disposition of the old town centres, the new concept of the relationship between city and country and the founding of new cities show a wide-ranging view that aims to reach a balance between monumental and modern achievements. Architecture plays the main role, while painting, especially the revival of wall painting and mosaic, is the favourite partner. “Build without adjectives, write on plain walls”, as Bontempelli’s rule warned.
The exhibition is divided into fourteen segments, each presenting the different subjects covered by the artists of the 20th century who followed the regime’s guidelines, by taking part in the competitions and accepting public commissions and by those who also lived in that environment, although in a different way. That is to say, looking for a new relationship between the needs of the contemporary time and tradition, between art and public, until the crisis of that relationship drew the country into tragedy.
The mounting project of the exhibition will be set up in the big rooms, once used as the library of St. Dominic’s Monastery, as well as the rooms on the ground floor, where the seven former exhibitions have already been held.

Visite guidate a partenza fissa per la mostra sul “Novecento”

A partire dal 14 marzo 2013 tutti i giovedì pomeriggio alle 16.30 sarà disponibile un servizio di visite guidate a partenza fissa per i singoli visitatori e i piccoli gruppi interessati alla mostra “Novecento. Arte e vita in Italia tra le due guerre”.

Per fruire del servizio non è prevista prenotazione: è sufficiente presentarsi alla biglietteria dei Musei San Domenico 10 minuti prima della partenza della visita guidata stessa.

Il costo della guida – da sommare ovviamente al prezzo del biglietto d’ingresso - è di 5 euro a partecipante.

VISITA IL PADIGLIONE DELLE FESTE A CASTROCARO TERME!

Ristrutturazione del padiglione delle feste - 2013

Il padiglione delle feste, è un edificio facente parte del complesso termale di Castrocaro insieme all’hotel, lo stabilimento termale e il parco, costruito nel 1936 sotto la direzione lavori di Tito Chini, con l’obiettivo di essere il luogo in cui potesse svolgersi la parte ludica e ricreativa, che insieme a quella medica- termale, andava a costituire la giornata dei bagnanti che soggiornavano a Castrocaro.
L’architettura del padiglione è quella tipica del razionalismo che affonda le sue radici storiche nel secolo scorso, nel lasso di tempo tra le due guerre, in cui in Italia fiorisce un periodo storico ben definito, il fascismo, accompagnato da un linguaggio artistico e architettonico anch’esso ben fondato e che a Forlì e nei comuni limitrofi si manifesta in maniera molto evidente.
Lo si può trovare nei suoi palazzi squadrati, nei suoi grandi spazi, come gli ampi viali alberati che attraversano la città di Forlì, le sue vaste piazze che si allungano al cielo attraverso gli obelischi, ma non meno nelle decorazioni che abbelliscono gli edifici che da Forlì arrivano a Premilcuore.
In particolare, all’interno del padiglione delle feste di Castrocaro le decorazioni di carattere zoomorfo e simbolico, hanno colori forti e sgargianti, a sottolineare la tendenza all’egocentrismo e la voglia di apparire protagonisti tipici di quel periodo storico.
Il restauro dei velari del padiglione delle feste, voluto dal Gruppo Villa Maria nelle persone del Presidente del Gruppo, Ettore Sansavini e dell’Amministratore Delegato di Salsubium Lucia Magnani, si inserisce all’interno di un discorso di valorizzazione delle bellezze storiche del territorio romagnolo e di tutto il patrimonio artistico e architettonico della zona.
La decisione del Gruppo Villa Maria, di aprire e mostrare a tutti il restauro coadiuvato e coordinato da un punto di vista organizzativo dalla Prof.ssa Paola Babini, poi realizzato da Camillo Tarozzi e dalla sue equipe, è nata spontanea, così come quella di inserirsi all’interno della mostra “ Novecento. Arte e vita in Italia tra le due guerre” che in questi giorni prende avvio sul nostro territorio, per un discorso di coerenza tematica e di intenti, affinchè un patrimonio artistico di tale portata non resti più a lungo sopito e non venga dimenticato.

VISITA IL PADIGLIONE DELLE FESTE A CASTROCARO TERME!

We have to face this new situation, which seemed impossible just a few years ago. New tourists will come from BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) and not only to our cities, but they will travel all around the world.

So, what's better than coming on your own and see with your eyes what a territory has to offer? Just a few words at the Be to Be meeting: "You'll see with your eyes!"

And they did see all around: Casa Artusi showed them "the art in the kitchen", demonstrating that it's possible to change ingredients easily, for religious or personal reasons. An English-speaking guide was with them at the Malatestian Library (UNESCO treasure). At the end of the morning they could taste some traditional food at the Michilietta Reastaurant.
